Antoine

From:

I grew up in Ardèche – the land of chestnuts.

Learnt to ski:

I started out in Arêches-Beaufort, where my parents had a chalet. Then my parents worked seasonal jobs and spent winters in Les Deux Alpes, where I skied for a while.

Summer months:

I’m a river guide for kayaking and rafting. I spent a few summers abroad, then a few years in the Hautes Alpes. Now I’m looking for a new path…

Favourite piste/run:

The Jardin Alpin in Courchevel for beginners…
The top of the Bouquetin area for good skiers/snowboarders — not too low in Les Menuires though… or I get lost 🙈.

Favourite off-piste area:

The Saulire 1 area and Altiport for shredding on a snowboard, especially in spring conditions. Otherwise, the off-piste near Raffort and back of Tougnette.

Favourite lift:

Depends on the weather – snow, rain, wind, or crowds… but the Suisse lift is the best!

Best view:

Top of Mont Vallon, though the view from the top of La Masse isn’t bad either.

Mountain restaurant:

Cave des Creux.

Village restaurant/bar/apres:

Fifty Fifty for a beer, and as for food… I usually head home to cook.

A 3 Valley must-do experience:

Catch a hockey game and try snowboarding (honestly, it’s better than skiing 😉).

Simple piece of advice:

Learn to pick up some speed; it’s the best way to learn to control it. Just let yourself glide…

Don’t leave home without:

My gym bag, in case I pass by the gym and have the energy to lift some weights… pumping iron!
