From:
Barcelonnette, which is in the South Alps. About 5 hours from Meribel
Learnt to ski:
Before I could walk. I started competing at age 5!
Summer months:
Working on the roofs of Meribel as a charpentier.
Favourite piste/run:
Courchevel for the wide cruise blue runs that are always perfectly groomed. It is my favourite area to take beginners. For the more advanced skiers I like to head to Jean Blanc or Jockeys for the adrenaline ride.
Favourite off-piste area:
To be honest I am happy everywhere off-piste but I do like the Creux Noir/Aiguille Du Fruit area. To get there you have a nice little walk to get away from the crowd but it is not too far to be tired for the epic ski down. The off-piste is North facing which means that you can ski it late into March or in the afternoons. (if snow allows) It’s allows along a ridge so you get a bit of excitement at the same time. Oh, and the view is excellent too.
Favourite lift:
Any drag/button lift, the tire-fesse….. My favourite as I like the way they feel on my bum.
Best view:
Top of Creux Noir or Mont Vallon as they both have great 360° views of the Mont Blanc, Grand Cause and Barres des Ecrins.
Mountain restaurant:
Cave de Creux and Soucoupe in Courchevel are both excellent.
Village restaurant/bar/apres:
Restaurants – Tough one! There are lots of good restaurants. Le Cepe in Meribel is extra tasty. Good for an evening meal.
Bars – Tsaretta or Lodge Du Village as they are my locals but I also enjoy 50/50 and love the Rond Point for apres!
A must do experience:
My dad’s fondue. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. A good croziflette is up there too.
Simple piece of advice:
Bend ze knees!
Joking! Enjoying your time on the mountain. Don’t take it too seriously.
Don’t leave home without:
A hat, a buff and a sense of humour.
